The Faith Of The Left

American Progressives are the purest form of true believers, because they have disconnected their beliefs from practical considerations. Therefore, they are immune to facts and reason. When you examine the language they use to describe politics and the culture, you see the extreme mysticism. Obama does not even really know what “left behind” means, but he is sure it is a bad thing. For him, it is a purely a spiritual issue to be thought of in those terms. Practical considerations simply have no salience for him.

Progressivism, Liberalism, Socialism, whatever you want to call it, is a false religion.

These are not churches so much as leftist political agitators.

3. “Tax and budget policies that reduce disparities between rich and poor, strengthen democracy, and provide greater opportunity for everyone within the common good.”  Is this what Jesus taught?  Did He complain that the people under Roman rule needed a fairer tax code?

Any church that is a member of the NCC is a fake church. Ditto for the World Council of Churches.

We have drifted a long way from the Founding Fathers’ clear intent about the relationship between the free exercise of religion and government. People are no longer free to apply their religious beliefs to their businesses, as the vendetta against Hobby Lobby demonstrates. The Obama administration went to court to force the Little Sister of the Poor to provide contraceptive coverage to their workers. Bakers were forced to bake cakes for gay weddings in violation of their religious beliefs.

Blog: Atheist teacher claims to be ‘bullied’ by middle school students

There is no reporting on what precipitated the razzing from students. How do they know she’s an atheist? Almost certainly because she told them. Many atheists use disparaging language to describe the religious beliefs of others, and it wouldn’t surprise me a bit if that were the case here.

In that way of thinking, the purification of the German natural environment required the elimination of defiling, alien human elements such as the Jews, leading ultimately to the Holocaust.  A similar extremism can be found among those environmentalists today who seriously entertain the idea of taking drastic measures to reduce human population in order to preserve the natural world.

The Bookworm Beat 10/23/16 – the culture war edition and open thread – Bookworm Room

Please understand that what happened to Street Cakes wasn’t about lesbians getting their wedding cake. If those lesbians wanted a cake in Oregon, they could have enriched God-alone-knows how many different bakeries. Instead, this was about destroying Christians’ right to withdraw voluntarily from a competitive marketplace in order to protect their religious sensibilities.
