I’d heard of Steve Vai but knew very little about him and had never heard him play. As far as I knew. Turns out he was with Frank Zappa before going solo, so I probably did hear him.

The Hydra is a many faceted creature with two-headstocks, three-necks that host 7 and 12-string guitars; a 4-string ¾ scale length bass; 13 sympathetic harp strings; half-fretless necks; single-coil, humbucking, piezo, MIDI and sustainer pickups; floating and hardtail tremolo bridges and phase splitters.

A strange beast it is, too. Unique. One of a kind.

And Vai makes it sounds great! That kind of talent is astronomically rare. I mean the kind of talent to dream this instrument up and then actually play it.

“With Or Without You” by U2, arranged and performed by Luca on his Reversed Triple Neck Guitar built by Davide Serracini. The third neck, reversed, has an e-bow attached to it that keeps the central string vibrating, producing a constant high pitched sound that imitates the iconic original version of the song. The wooden percussive device on the guitar is called Multi Clap.

Impressive talent.

NYC now has a ban on saying “illegal alien”

So using the same phrase that appears all through Title 8 of federal law to identify an illegal alien in New York City can now land you in hot water. And if you inform the illegal alien that you are going to report their unlawful presence in the country to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), not only will the police not assist the feds in taking the illegal into custody, but they may be dispatched to take you in if the person files a complaint.

I would just blast Genesis from my sound system! (better download this before it’s banned…)
