{"id":4853,"date":"2021-07-04T07:26:04","date_gmt":"2021-07-04T13:26:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/darknessovertheland.com\/?p=4853"},"modified":"2021-07-04T07:26:04","modified_gmt":"2021-07-04T13:26:04","slug":"werent-we-always-extremists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/darknessovertheland.com\/?p=4853","title":{"rendered":"Weren\u2019t We Always Extremists?"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p><strong>The US is criticized more heavily for its failures to uphold human rights because it was the first to come along and allege that we had them. <\/strong>Therefore, its hypocrisy when it fails to live up to the values it professes makes those failures all the more glaring. And again, I\u2019m not coming to the government\u2019s defense. I merely want to point out that before the US, poverty, inequality, indentured servitude, slavery, racism\u2014all of these evils and more were the status quo, and no one really expected differently.<\/p>\n<p>When we <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archives.gov\/founding-docs\/declaration-transcript\">said<\/a>, <strong>\u201cWe hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,\u201d<\/strong> the reality is that this principle had been self-evident to practically no one throughout thousands of years of history. When we said that all men are <strong>\u201cendowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,\u201d <\/strong>it got people\u2019s attention, and suddenly others began to agree. When we said humans are entitled to <strong>\u201cLife, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness,\u201d <\/strong>it became a violation to impede such things. But make no mistake.
