\u00a0Scientists, with few exceptions, are subject matter experts in specific fields &#8212;\u00a0their expertise isn\u2019t inherently relevant and extensible across varying fields of science.\u00a0 For example, a physicist won\u2019t teach a graduate-level course in Biology; a podiatrist won\u2019t perform open heart surgery and a botanist has minimal insight on quantum computing.\u00a0 How many of these 11,000 scientists possess germane degrees in meteorology, climatology or atmospheric science?\u00a0 Lo and behold, \u00a0BioScience actually published a list of these scientific signatories in <a href=\"https:\/\/oup.silverchair-cdn.com\/oup\/backfile\/Content_public\/Journal\/bioscience\/PAP\/10.1093_biosci_biz088\/2\/biz088_supplemental_file_s1.pdf?Expires=1576157419&amp;Signature=wGaK-OVKOOk7m1WuXs~sGiIjtgdL6J39XT9Okf0FP6wcrlbmSbimGumsMTuhi4uYxc-bNzyc4T1Ej6bdoqSZzHMxaAe1DEj4WYDcCt-NG5~Eno6b4mgP3DKfejDD625c53Ymo~tjX~XbUd7Goxq~r-rrvDnAfrOTXIzpPoCavrHrijoZjz2Adz2dPharB0Kg0onKbWkcrcb7WSgGS1U0wCFvymU5hr0Weh8trYJWsQci4XIfvrih8-IL9sZCN3C4kXda2SKkeImrStK0nFN5I1oFf7hBBP0egFAcOwa4WD0q0Fn3N6WErqG6a4LfN45NwGLQeSsZyhVqeLCPnFjyaw__&amp;Key-Pair-Id=APKAIE5G5CRDK6RD3PGA\">the attached link<\/a>\u00a0&#8212;\u00a0so I looked.<\/p>\n<p>In keyword searches across 324 pages of signing signatories, spanning 11,224 scientists, I found 240 (2%) individuals with professions that can be construed as bona fide meteorologists, climatologists, or atmospheric scientists.\u00a0 As a frame of reference, the Department of Labor reports there are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/ooh\/life-physical-and-social-science\/atmospheric-scientists-including-meteorologists.htm\">10,000 atmospheric scientists in the U.S.<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/ooh\/life-physical-and-social-science\/atmospheric-scientists-including-meteorologists.htm\">\u00a0<\/a> Conversely, this list contains plenty of \u201cexperts\u201d\u00a0who have<em> zero credibility <\/em>on the topic of climate change, coming from fields such as:\u00a0 infectious diseases, paleontology, ecology, zoology, epidemiology and nutrition, insect ecology, anthropology, computer science, OB-GYN and linguistics.\u00a0 Bluntly, and no offense intended, I could care less what a French professor or a zookeeper thinks about climate change &#8212;\u00a0let alone allow them to tell me how to live my life.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanthinker.com\/blog\/2019\/11\/who_are_these_11000_concerned_scientists.html\">Who are these &#8216;11,000 Concerned Scientists&#8217;?<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the disclaimer that I\u2019m just a layman who resides in \u201cflyover country\u201d, who are these \u201c11,000 Scientists,\u201d and do they even have credibility to weigh in on this matter?
