From today’s Scripture reading

Each day (well, almost) my wife and I read the scriptures out loud to each other. Today we read 2 John:

9. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

10. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

11. For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

As I pointed out to my wife, here we find that it is, indeed, very Christian to exclude some types of people. ‘Inclusiveness’ and ‘diversity’, for their own sakes,  are NOT Christian teachings. I won’t receive him in my house. I won’t ‘bake the cake.’

I mention this because I was recently castigated by some atheist on Facebook for being unChristian for my lack of inclusiveness.

I’m always amused by non-Christians, who apparently have never read the Scriptures, telling Christians what they should believe.

What Are the Children Learning?

One college is proud to advertise that they have done away with “unrelated curriculum.”  So nursing students are not required to study U.S. history and a student majoring in Information Technology does not need to take Philosophy 101.  This is countered by Jack Kerwick, who describes a liberal arts education as supplying students “with ‘the habit of attention;’ ‘the art of expression;’ ‘the art of assuming at a moment’s notice, a new intellectual position;’ ‘the art of entering quickly into another person’s thoughts;’ ‘the habit of submitting to censure and refutation;’ ‘the art of indicating assent or dissent in graduated terms;’ ‘the habit of regarding minute points of accuracy;’ and ‘the art of working out what is possible in a given time [.]'”

This is why I laugh when people with degrees tell me they know better than me because of their ‘degree.’ It’s worthless outside of their area of study… and sometimes not even then. Alexandria Occasional Cortex’s pronouncements on economics are comical, yet she claims to have a degree in economics. (which is why she was bartending…)

College isn’t an education anymore. It’s glorified job training.

What is job training? It’s education for slaves. No need to read, write, or think. Just spew out the leftist extremist talking points you were force fed and do your job.

The Flaw In Flawless

In fact, perfectionism kills. The fact it leaves an animated corpse behind only hides the crime.

And yes, it can kill societies. There is an age when people can see all the flaws in society but are too young to know what the alternatives are. Also our schools are deliberately not teaching history as it really was, so it’s really hard to know that the alternatives are worse, or that no society was ever perfect, because humans aren’t and every law is a double edged sword that cuts more on the not-intended side.

Throughout most of history that age is called “adolescent” and “young adult.” But in the US it’s called democrat or — in the rest of the west — socialist or communist.

The White Man’s Burden

A question no one asks, at least not out loud: To what extent are blacks dependent on the charity of whites? What would happen if all public assistance, all programs specifically or de facto for blacks were withdrawn?

What would happen if Section Eight housing were abandoned, Head Start, AFDC, free lunch and breakfasts in inner-city schools, food stamps, and all the rest? I do not recommend doing this–the consequences would be hideous–but do suggest thinking about it. The conclusion will probably be that blacks are in custodial care. If this is not true, tell me why it is not.

I never even thought to ask that. Hmmm…

An evening with Jordan Peterson and Dave Rubin – Bookworm Room

And then Peterson came out with what was (to me) a startling insight: Leftists are drawn to power, not just because it’s the nature of the beast, but because of their relativism. Power negates competence and, for a Leftist, competence is a dangerous reminder that incompetence exists as well.

Leftists have abandoned the Founders’ belief that all humans are created equal in the eyes of the law, even as they maintain their individual differences. Instead, Leftists insist upon a mandate that all people (notwithstanding their insistence on external hallmarks of diversity) must be perceived as identical. This mandate makes the entire idea that incompetence exists untenable — especially because those mostly loudly seeking power may do so because they lack competence in anything other than power seeking.

Interesting notion.

How a Dam Bursts – Ricochet

Most of the dam is intact today, only the middle quarter failed — the deepest part, of course. It was undercut by pressure driven seepage that evolved into erosion from beneath. The undisturbed core is plain to see in the remaining segments; it really was a fine dam. You can look at it today, the outlet pipes, the rockpile, the missing segment, and the swamp behind it all. The simple physical truth stares you in the face and says something completely unprintable.

There’s probably a metaphor here for a constitutional republic…

Random question

As I was reading the news today a thought came out of nowhere. Why is it, I wondered, that the two best Presidents in my lifetime, Reagan and Trump (so far), are both former Democrats who left that party before becoming President?

Did they get ‘woke’?

Request President Trump award Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn the Medal Of Freedom on his 100th Birthday, 12/11/2018.

More than any other human being, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn exposed the Big Lie that is the ideology of Totalitarianism and fought a never-ending fight to bring freedom and ordered liberty to the world. Through his courageous acts and words, millions of souls were set free from tyranny. Mr. Solzhenitsyn proved that ‘the pen is mightier that the sword’.

On this, the 100th Anniversary of his birth, it seems fitting that he should be given an award, the Medal Of Freedom, that exemplifies the freedoms we Americans hold dear and that we should honor such a noble, decent, and honest man.
